Ok, so I cannot come up with a better title for this post. The point anyway is that one of my friends decided to erase his hard drive (more like a quick reformat) and after he finished and rebboted, there was no video signal to the screen nor any post beep messages or any sound. The hard drive would spin for just a second. Interesting this happens right after he reboots from the formatting. It appears though as if the computer normally boots from cd. He has a dell dimenssion (not sure of number) but I have researched and have just came across "unscrew this, open that, switch the whires..." and i can discard these posibilities since the hardware stopped getting signals from the computer right after he whippped the hard drive. Any suggestions? ideas?

Maybe he should try to put the recovery cd in, and try restoring to factory. At least then, the morons at Dell will give him tech support.

well... there were two partitions at the time of reformat. We erased both and well, guess what? We call technical support and they say the partitions didn't have anything to do with primary drivers... so, for some reason, dell desktops tend to do this too often. YOu just have to turn off, take the power out for say, half a minute, then plug back in and turn on and it worked. silly.
